Wombyn taking care of themselves seems like such a foreign concept not only to Wombyn, but men, children, our society. Wombyn are always being asked to be more while simultaneously being treated as less. How is that? Because Wombyn are not first taking care of themselves. They aren't demanding it. They have no clue where their personal boundaries lie and every time they feel anger or sadness about having to do more and not receiving back in return, what's not being understood is that a boundary was crossed. And more often than not, we cross our personal boundaries but have no clue as to why the feelings have risen because we haven't taken the time to tune in with ourselves.
There is always a reason not to create space for ourselves. ALWAYS. But one of THE most important acts a Wombyn (or a Man) can do for themselves is to take time for themselves. Not to be a vegetable being entertained in front of a television or entertained in some other fashion, but genuinely taking the time to tune in with yourself and hear YOU from WITHIN.
One of the most amazing rituals I began with myself was to communicate with my womb. Some might find it odd, insane even (no worries I have been called MANY things), but I began to talk to HER. I began to reconcile any pain, any trauma, and negative experience that had been inflicted upon her. This ranged from sexual assault, to entertaining lovers with poor energy, to using birth control pills that disrupted her natural flow and lastly to speaking ill of WOMByness.
Whether we are young girls or beyond the years of childbearing, or even lacking a womb entirely (I have theories about phantom wombs and how the fluid/blood around the areas where a womb used to be remembers), we can tune in with our Womb, our Divine area, and speak to HER. Our womb aligns so well with our Heart Chakra. When we tune in with our intuition and began to make peace and trust this voice, we began to set our boundaries, we begin to tell the World outside of ourselves that who we are matters because we matter to ourselves within.
Making ritual with one's self is the most important ritual one can create space for.How can we possibly give back to the World if we have no idea about ourselves? It's not selfish, no matter how many around us may perceive it, but rather an act of love. Self-Love.
When as Wombyn, we care for our Womb, it is what helps us to either re-ignite our Inner Fire, or allows us to maintain the Light with in. For almost two months I have created extra space in my daily self-care routine and massaged my womb 2-3 times a day, which is more than the 1-3 times a week I had been previously practicing. And every time I speak to her in love, she communicates with me. It has been the most intense and deeply loving time of myself.
I share this because I have had SO many Wombyn contact me this week feeling as if their foundation at the core was crumbling. The best person to nurture and take care of ourselves is our own self. Communing with another Goddess yesterday about her Womb Care guidance with others, I came home and meditated on how much I should share of my own self-care womb care.
